2018 marks the ten year anniversary of Liverpool Capital of Culture – a year that helped to strengthen Liverpool’s position as a cultural focal point across the globe. The legacy of 2008 lives on in the city and in the wider region, with places like Knowsley having an increasingly important position on the cultural map of the region.

We are delighted to welcome Claire McColgan MBE to our latest Knowsley Ambassadors’ event. Claire was Executive Producer of the 2008 European Capital of Culture and is now Director of Culture for Liverpool. She is leading this year’s ambitious cultural programme which includes the iconic`China’s First Emperor and the Terracotta Warriors’ exhibition and the recently announced return of The Giants.

In what promises to be another fantastic year for the whole City Region, Ambassadors can hear first-hand Claire’s unique knowledge and leadership nof the City Region’s cultural opportunities, plans and ambitions, and understand how Knowsley fits into and can add to the wider, regional and Northern cultural tapestry.

Naturally Knowsley’s plans for a new Shakespeare North Playhouse feature heavily in the place’s cultural aspirations for the future. With contractors already lined up and ready to start construction work on site, it is timely for Knowsley Ambassadors to also have an update on this exciting project from Ian Tabbron, Chief Executive of the Shakespeare North Trust.

The support and patronage of the Earls of Derby at Knowsley Hall played a notable part in the development of English drama so what better place to hold this event than at the Hall itself? Doors will open at 8am for networking and refreshments with presentations due to start at 8.45am.

Ambassadors must register to attend in advance to ensure security access to Knowsley Hall is confirmed ahead of the event.

To book your place please email paul.morris@knowsley.gov.uk or call him on 0151 443 5802.
