From housing to heritage, shopping to Shakespeare – there is a lot happening in Prescot.

With recently approved plans for the new Shakespeare North Playhouse, the town centre masterplan, Geraud UK acquiring the shopping centre, over £1m of investment from the Townscape Heritage Initiative (THI), a new Public Art Strategy and residential developments on the former Watch Factory site and at Prescot Park, it really is an exciting time for the town.

Prescot already has so much to offer and now Knowsley Council, its private sector partners, the local community and business owners are all working together towards ambitious plans which will conserve the town’s heritage whilst transforming the area into an even more attractive place for people to invest, live, visit and spend time.

With the development of Knowsley’s Economic Growth Plan, commissioned by the Knowsley Place Board, we have a clear vision, priorities and targets for growth in Knowsley and Prescot in the coming years.

To complement all of this work, we are launching the new Prescot story which captures the essence of the area and will help to put Prescot on the map through what we say, what we build and the environment we create.

I would like to invite you to a special Knowsley Ambassadors event to find out more about these exciting plans and to hear from some of those people directly involved in the amazing things that are happening in the town.

Knowsley Manufacturing Network event with Jaguar Land Rover – Thursday 16 June

The International Festival of Business (IFB) returned to the Liverpool City Region in June.

And with the eyes of the business world firmly fixed on the region, Knowsley Ambassadors joined forces with Knowsley Chamber’s Manufacturing Network for a special IFB ‘Manufacturing Week’ inspired event.

More than 1 in 3 advanced manufacturing jobs in the City Region are based in Knowsley so what better time to hear from one of the region’s greatest success stories in this sector – Jaguar Land Rover.

From its base in Halewood, the company continues to go from strength to strength. The biggest car manufacturer in the UK, voted the best company to work for in an independent survey and notably boasting record breaking sales figures in March and April this year, JLR is a formidable force. In fact in March this year, on average one JLR vehicle was sold every 2 minutes!

As promised, it was a fantastic session, opened by Richard Else the Operations Director at the Halewood plant. JLR told Ambassadors more about the company and highlighted some specific Halewood achievements over the last few years.
