Final preparations are underway as Knowsley welcomes back the UK's biggest professional bike race — The Tour of Britain — on Tuesday, 17 September 2013.
Knowsley will be hosting Stage 3 of the event, which is an individual time trial. Over one hundred of the world's top cyclists will be competing against the clock along a ten-mile circuit through the borough, starting and ending at Knowsley Safari Park.
The time trail will help to celebrate ten years of The Tour of Britain, so this really is a race not to be missed!
The race will start and finish at Knowsley Safari Park.
There will also be key places along the way where you can enjoy the action and take advantage of local facilities, including Prescot Town Centre and Knowsley Village.
The race will start at 12 noon and is expected to finish at 3pm.
Parking is available at Knowsley Safari Park. You will need to arrive by 10am and there will be a £5 parking charge.
Free shuttle buses to the race are available on the day.

The Tour of Britain aims to minimise disruption to residents and businesses in the area. There are requirements for road closures along the route for the safety of spectators and cyclists.

Come along between 10am and 4pm and find out about the fantastic cycling facilities, rides and groups in Knowsley at the Cycling Village - Sky Rides, Knowsley’s outdoor velodrome and BMX track through to exciting cycling routes in Stadt Moers Park and Pedal Away cycling activities, plus much more!
Call in to the community marquee between 10am and 4pm and find out how you can improve your health and wellbeing, plus a range of ideas to help keep you moving, including Nordic Walking!
Between 10am to 3pm, school children can take part in taster sessions including mini athletics, tri-golf and martial arts.
Sea Lion Shows, Birds of Prey Shows, fairground rides, meercats and the restaurant and shop are also available throughout the day.
Join in the celebrations with the street party taking place on Eccleston Street between 11am – 3pm. There will be entertainment, food and activities linked to the heritage of Prescot, including heritage demonstrations, tours of the beautiful church and street entertainers to keep you amused. Local Prescotians will show their wares as they did in Elizabethan times including spinning, painting and knitting.
Knowsley Village, with its shops, pubs and local facilities, is a great place to see an exciting part of The Tour of Britain time trial as riders speed along Knowsley Lane before turning at the top of the Village into Mill Lane. Local schools and community groups will be running their own sporting activities to celebrate The Tour, and will join the route throughout the day to wave banners and cheer the riders on.
